Do teachers prefer students using Wikipedia ?

My name is William and I am a student at a prestigious research university. I am currently majoring in Biology and I have a passion for learning about the world around us. I have a strong interest in the study of genetics and evolutionary biology. I wanted to ask do professors prefer their students to use Wikipedia for studying ? as information on Wikipedia is editable by anyone is it authentic ? although I’ve seen some professors that have create a Wikipedia for themselves to share information with students.
